March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day!

Monday, March 21st, 2016, marks the 11th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day. It seems that now, more than ever, the voices of those with Down Syndrome, and those who live and work with them, is getting louder! When the “Funky Sock Day” movement was introduced several years ago, people embraced the “Inclusion, not exclusion” statement. Not only does it send out a strong message, but everyone loves to add a touch of extra colour to the world!


Here at Community Living South Huron we feel the same way! We feel this is a wonderful day to celebrate the unique and exceptional people they are. When any person with a disability is given the opportunity to participate, everyone benefits from this shared environment of acceptance, respect and friendship.


We decided to celebrate this special day by having a little photo session! Hopefully we captured their unique, wonderful personalities just right. It certainly was a lot of fun! Here are some of the images…
